In November 2025, total electricity consumption in North Macedonia reached 602,989 MWh, while natural gas consumption amounted to 38.9 million cubic meters, coal consumption totaled 284,700 tons, and petroleum product consumption stood at 94,077 tons. According to the State Statistical Office, domestic production covered 85.4% of electricity demand, and 98.3% of coal consumption was used for electricity generation.
Total gross electricity production in November 2025 was 515,076 MWh, representing a 5.2% decrease compared to the same month in 2024. Production from thermal power plants accounted for 157,351 MWh (30.5%), a significant drop of 38.8% from November 2024. Hydropower plants produced 151,049 MWh (29.3%), marking a substantial 73% increase year-on-year. Combined heat and power (CHP) plants generated 157,784 MWh (30.6%), slightly down 0.5%, while wind farms contributed 30,714 MWh (5.96%). Biogas plants produced 4,194 MWh, and solar power plants, excluding prosumers, generated 13,984 MWh (2.71%).
Electricity imports in November totaled 192,038 MWh, down from 252,442 MWh in the same month of 2024, while exports reached 104,125 MWh, compared to 136,346 MWh a year earlier. The data reflect a shift toward greater reliance on hydropower and reduced output from thermal power plants, amid steady domestic electricity coverage.
