Albania: ALPEX reports 96 GWh traded in March day-ahead market

The Albanian electricity exchange, ALPEX, announced that a total of 96 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of electricity were traded on its day-ahead market in March 2025. This marks a 16.1% increase compared to February, but a 25.4% decline year-on-year from March 2024.

Breaking down the numbers, 50.5 GWh were traded in the Kosovo bidding zone and 58.1 GWh in the Albania bidding zone. Both zones recorded an average market clearing price of €108.79 per megawatt-hour (MWh). This price reflects a sharp 33.2% drop from February, yet it remains 52.3% higher than in March last year.

ALPEX, jointly established by Albania’s transmission system operator OST and Kosovo’s KOSTT in October 2020, held its first auction for the Albanian market in April 2023. It currently includes 36 members participating across the Albania and Kosovo bidding zones.
