A proposed wind power project in southern Bosnia and Herzegovina has entered a new phase after authorities in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina received a request to initiate environmental screening procedures. The application was submitted by local developer Energy 3 for the Pločno wind farm, planned near the city of Mostar, which would add nearly 80 MW of renewable capacity.
The Pločno project is not new. Energy 3 secured a long-term concession for the site in 2017, when the Government of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton granted a 30-year contract for the development of the wind farm. Since then, the concession framework has been updated through additional agreements signed in 2021 and 2023.
According to the latest technical concept finalized in March 2024, the wind farm would be equipped with 12 Siemens Gamesa turbines, each with a capacity of 6.6 MW. Once completed, the facility would have a total installed capacity of 79.2 MW and is expected to generate approximately 192 GWh of electricity annually.
Energy 3 is controlled by Nordic Power Partners, a Danish renewable energy company active in wind and solar projects across several markets. If the project successfully passes the environmental review and permitting process, the Pločno wind farm would represent a significant addition to the renewable energy portfolio of the Herzegovina region.
