In April 2025, a total of 982,941.6 MWh of electricity was traded on the Croatian energy exchange CROPEX, marking a 10.3% decrease compared to March. Of this volume, 732,302.5 MWh was traded on the day-ahead market, while 250,639.1 MWh was traded on the intraday market. The total traded volume in April 2025 was 3.2% lower than in the same month last year.
The average daily base price on the day-ahead market in April was 84.78 euros/MWh, which represents a 19.2% drop from the previous month. The average euro-peak price reached 62.16 euros/MWh, a decrease of 35.4% compared to March. On the intraday market, the average price was 82.88 euros/MWh, down by 19.4% compared to March.
There were 33 participants on the CROPEX day-ahead market in April (the same number as in the previous month), with 31 of them also active on the intraday market. The average daily traded volume on the day-ahead market in April was 24,410.1 MWh.
CROPEX, launched on March 11, 2016, in cooperation with Nord Pool, Europe’s leading electricity exchange, is co-owned by the Croatian electricity transmission system operator (HOPS) and the Croatian electricity market operator (HROTE). The intraday market was launched in April 2017. On June 19, 2018, the day-ahead market was successfully coupled with MRC markets through the Croatian-Slovenian border, following a joint project by the Croatian and Slovenian transmission system operators and power exchanges.
