Montenegro: Agenos Energy plans 100 MW Vracenovici solar power plant

Local company Agenos Energy has announced plans to construct a 100 MW solar power plant in Vracenovici. The project details were included in the company’s submission to the Environmental Protection Agency, requesting a decision on whether a full environmental impact assessment (EIA) study will be required.

According to the documentation, the facility will be located within the Vracenovici cadastral area in the municipality of Niksic. The design includes the installation of approximately 192,000 photovoltaic panels. The project involves the construction of a solar power installation for renewable electricity generation, along with all required auxiliary buildings, internal infrastructure, and a grid connection.

The total area designated for the solar plant covers about 583,750 square meters, of which the solar panels will occupy around 208,352 square meters, representing roughly 35.7 percent of the total site. The Vracenovici solar power plant will be connected directly to the 110 kV Niksic-Bileca transmission line, in line with the technical requirements of Montenegro’s transmission system operator CGES.

Agenos Energy signed a network connection agreement in July 2024, setting the technical and legal framework for integrating the plant into the national power grid. Designed for long-term, safe, and stable operation, the facility is expected to have a lifespan of at least 25 years, making it one of the largest renewable energy projects currently under development in Montenegro.
