Plans for the Korita wind power project in the municipality of Bijelo Polje have advanced after the Environmental Protection Agency granted approval following the completion of the environmental assessment process. The project envisions a wind farm with a total installed capacity of 72.6 MW in the village of Korita.
The environmental impact study met all legal requirements and outlined measures to prevent, mitigate, or eliminate potential negative effects on the surrounding environment. The investor is required to adhere strictly to these measures during construction, operation, and in case of any incidents, along with continuous environmental monitoring.
The wind farm will comprise 11 turbines distributed across multiple sites, most located at altitudes above 1,500 meters, taking advantage of favorable wind conditions. Construction will span approximately 162 hectares, while the turbines’ physical footprint will occupy about 3.3 hectares once operational.
In addition, a new 400 kV transmission line will be built to link the planned Korita substation with the existing Ribarevine switching station, stretching roughly 27.8 kilometers. The Korita site has also been earmarked for a solar power plant, which has previously received environmental approval and includes a transformer station that will serve both the wind farm and the new transmission line connection.
