North Macedonia’s day-ahead electricity exchange experienced robust growth in April 2025, with total traded volume reaching 110,255.4 MWh—representing a 90% increase compared to the same month last year, when 58,018 MWh were traded. According to market operator MEMO, the April volume was also up 13.6% from March, highlighting continued market expansion and strengthening liquidity.
The average daily traded volume stood at 3,675 MWh, signaling growing participant engagement in the young market, which was launched in May 2023. Meanwhile, the average market-clearing price for April was €88.21/MWh, down 15.4% from the previous month, in line with broader regional trends of declining electricity prices during the spring.
The surge in traded volume underscores the successful development of North Macedonia’s electricity market just two years after its inception, as well as increasing integration with regional electricity systems and competitive price formation.
