The average price of electricity on the day-ahead market of the Romanian energy exchange OPCOM reached €117.64/MWh in December 2025. This represents a 16.62% decrease compared with December 2024 and a 3.16% drop from the previous month, when the average baseload price was €121.48/MWh.
Total traded volume in December amounted to 1.47 million MWh, down 10.99% year-on-year but 14.88% higher than in November. The average traded volume during the month was 1,972.6 MWh/h. The total value of transactions on the day-ahead market reached €175.3 million, reflecting a 30.51% decline compared with December 2024 (€252.2 million) but a 9.37% increase from November (€160.3 million). The day-ahead market share of forecasted net consumption in December 2025 accounted for 32.28%.
On the intraday market, a total of 171,298.8 MWh was traded, slightly down 1.84% year-on-year and 9.98% lower compared to November. The average intraday price was €122.83/MWh, marking a 19.31% decline compared with December 2024 and 2.25% lower than the previous month.
Meanwhile, bilateral contracts with delivery in December totaled 1.156 million MWh, with an average price of €105.15/MWh, reflecting competitive pricing across Romania’s electricity market.
This data highlights a downward trend in prices across OPCOM markets despite moderate trading volumes, suggesting improved market conditions and stable supply during the month.
