Serbia: Hungary’s MOL begins technical due diligence at NIS

A delegation from Hungary’s MOL has arrived in Serbia to conduct a comprehensive due diligence review of NIS, focusing on the company’s core infrastructure and facilities. The visit marks the beginning of a detailed assessment of the operational condition and functionality of NIS’ assets.

MOL’s team has begun inspecting key segments of NIS’ business, including petroleum receiving and dispatch facilities, storage capacities, technical installations, and port infrastructure. The review is primarily operational, emphasizing the current state of the assets rather than strategic or political considerations.

The delegation comprises around twelve specialists carrying out on-site inspections. Their schedule includes visits to the main refinery complex as well as the natural gas processing facility in Elemir. Officials from the Serbian Government and the Ministry of Mining and Energy have not attended, highlighting the technical and commercial focus of the visit rather than formal negotiations.

The MOL delegation is expected to remain in Serbia for several more days to complete its evaluation of NIS’ operational capacities and infrastructure, paving the way for potential future decisions regarding the company.
