Greece: Wind power capacity surpasses 5.5 GW in first half of 2025

Wind energy capacity in Greece reached 5,507 MW by June 30, 2025, according to the Hellenic Wind Energy Association (ELETAEN). This milestone follows the addition of 37 new turbines and 152.2 MW of capacity in the first half of the year, supported by around €180 million in investment.

ELETAEN noted that the annual growth rate in wind capacity has doubled compared to last year. However, despite the acceleration, the expansion remains insufficient to adequately balance Greece’s overall renewable energy mix.
