Montenegro household power bills jump nearly 29% in December as winter demand surges

The average electricity bill for households in Montenegro in December 2025 reached €46.75, representing a sharp 28.6% increase month-on-month from €36.35 and a 1.9% rise year-on-year compared with December 2024.

The lowest average bills were recorded in the municipality of Žabljak, at just €20.5, while the highest average household consumption was seen in Tivat, where customers paid around €59.5.

According to data from power utility EPCG, 54.74% of households will pay less than €30 for electricity consumed in December. A further 13.4% will receive bills between €30 and €50, 20.02% between €50 and €100, while 11.83% of customers will be charged more than €100.

Some 115,450 regular payers were granted a discount, accounting for approximately 28.16% of all electricity consumers in the country.

EPCG also reported that total household electricity consumption reached 163.1 million kWh in December 2025, which is 3.6% higher than in December 2024 and 26.66% above the level recorded in November, reflecting the seasonal surge in winter demand.
